We will seat you in the Piano Nobile tropical greenhouse, surrounded by the oldest vineyard in the Czech Republic. This space uniquely connects outdoor nature with the restaurant’s interior.

Head Chef Jaroslav Bartůněk, together with his team, combines Czech tradition with a modern approach to gastronomy. Their philosophy is honest cuisine based on premium ingredients and deep respect for the place.

Every course tells its own story — from the origin of the ingredients, through preparation on the legendary French Molteni stove, to the final presentation.

THE BEST WINES

Every year, our wines rank among the best in the Czech Republic. We grow two noble grape varieties: Riesling and Pinot Noir.

Both have their place in the vineyard and benefit from the unique conditions of the southern slope below Prague Castle.

We cultivate the vines using traditional methods, with an emphasis on manual labor and a gentle approach to the entire production process. Due to limited quantities, the wines are available exclusively at Villa Richter.

Our wine cellar, carved directly into the rock beneath Prague Castle, hides world-class wines at perfect maturity. You will also find individual vintages from our own vineyard — the oldest vineyard in Bohemia. Limited editions from this legendary vineyard rank among the very best wines you can taste in the Czech Republic.

To accompany the tasting menu, we offer carefully curated wine pairings that enhance the flavor of each course. Should you prefer to choose on your own, our sommeliers will be happy to recommend the perfect bottle from our extensive wine list.

Do I need to reserve a table in advance?

Yes, we recommend booking a table online in advance before visiting Villa Richter Restaurant, via the reservation form.

What are your opening hours?

Villa Richter Restaurant is open Wednesday to Friday from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM and Saturday from 12:00 PM to 11:00 PM; we’re closed on Monday, Tuesday, and Sunday. Please check availability in advance online via the reservation form. We post any changes on our website in the Restaurant section, on Instagram @villarichterrestaurant, and on Facebook @villarichterrestaurant.

What are your opening hours over Christmas and New Year's Eve 2026?

Special opening hours apply at Villa Richter Restaurant over the Christmas holidays: we are closed from 23 to 25 December, open from 12:00 PM to 11:00 PM from 26 to 29 December, and closed on 30 December. On 31 December, join us for New Year’s Eve at Villa Richter from 6:00 PM to 2:00 AM. We are closed on New Year’s Day, 1 January 2027, and regular opening hours resume on Saturday 2 January. Please book your table in advance via our online booking form.

Do you offer a tasting menu, or also à la carte options?

Villa Richter Restaurant offers tasting menus exclusively: a four-course menu for CZK 1,990 and a seven-course menu for CZK 2,490 per person. We also offer a separate four-course vegetarian tasting menu for CZK 1,990 per person, with wine pairing for CZK 1,290. Chef Jaroslav Bartůněk combines Czech tradition with a modern approach and seasonal ingredients. We don’t offer à la carte dining. You’ll find the full menu here.

Do you offer wine pairing with the menu?

Yes, Villa Richter Restaurant offers wine pairing with every tasting menu: CZK 1,290 per person for the four-course menu, and CZK 1,990 per person for the seven-course menu. The wines were selected by Jaroslav Hykl, who runs Villa Richter and restored St. Wenceslas Vineyard. The pairing naturally includes Riesling and Pinot Noir from St. Wenceslas Vineyard, said by legend to be the oldest vineyard in Bohemia.

Do you offer a vegetarian version of the tasting menu?

Yes, Villa Richter Restaurant has a separate four-course vegetarian tasting menu for CZK 1,990 per person, with wine pairing for CZK 1,290. You’ll find the full vegetarian menu here.

Is there a recommended dress code?

At Villa Richter Restaurant, we recommend a smart elegant dress code.

Can I bring my pet?

Unfortunately, pets aren’t allowed at Villa Richter Restaurant. Thank you for understanding.

Can I book a private lounge for lunch or dinner?

Yes, Villa Richter Restaurant has a private lounge for a private lunch or dinner for up to 30 guests. If needed, we can also arrange space for more guests. Book it by emailing restaurant@villarichter.cz or calling +420 702 205 108.

Can I hold a private celebration or corporate event with you?

Yes. Villa Richter Restaurant, and Villa Richter as a whole, hosts corporate parties, private celebrations, and weddings – from an intimate dinner in the private lounge to events for hundreds of guests. You’ll find spaces and contact details for inquiries in the Events and Weddings sections.

What's the best way to get to you?

Villa Richter Restaurant is located at Staré zámecké schody 6, Prague 1, right below Prague Castle. The best way to reach us is by public transport to the Malostranská stop (metro line A, trams 12, 15, 20, 22 and 23), then on foot up Staré zámecké schody to the lower entrance. Coming from Prague Castle, use the upper entrance. We have no parking lot, and parking isn’t allowed on Na Opyši street, but a taxi can drop you off at the bottom, by Staré zámecké schody.

Is the restaurant wheelchair accessible?

The Villa Richter estate isn’t wheelchair accessible – the villa stands on the vineyard’s slope, and the lower entrance from Malostranská is reached by stairs. That said, we’re happy to help guests with reduced mobility: a pre-arranged car can bring them to the upper entrance on Na Opyši street (send us the license plate at least 2 days before your visit to the restaurant), and our golf cart will take you from there to Villa Richter Restaurant. We handle every request individually.

Does Villa Richter Restaurant have a fireplace?

Yes. Villa Richter Restaurant has a fireplace lounge where a fire burns throughout the winter months. Your tasting dinner can come with a seat by the fire in a historic villa beneath Prague Castle.

Can we dine in the Piano Nobile conservatory in winter too?

Yes. The tropical conservatory on the Piano Nobile, where Villa Richter Restaurant serves its tasting menus, is heated to a comfortable room temperature in winter. While it’s freezing outside, you sit in the warmth among tropical plants.
